WHY TAC?

THE ARTS CREATIVE is an educational arts studio for children, youth and beginner adults.  We believe that everyone has creativity within and it is our focus to help our artists explore, grow and nurture their creative selves.

ART LESSONS - TAC offers art classes that are based on real-world art.  Lessons are based loosely on artists of our time with a mix of fun and a whole lot of mess on the side!

ABOUT

ELIZABETH OAKLEY, BA, AOCA

Creative Director

Elizabeth (Beth) Oakley, founder of The Arts Creative has a passion for all things colourful.  With a degree in Visual Arts from Western University and a four-year diploma from The Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University), she has spent over 20 years working in the commercial art field. T.A.C. was created in an effort to offer children and youth of the London community the opportunity to develop their creativity outside of what is offered in our schools' mainstream elementary art curriculum.

Beth began formal music training at the age of seven, working through the ranks of the graded system while participating in many festivals and recitals as well as the highly-respected national competition, The Canadian Music Competition. After reaching a senior level in piano performance, she had the privilege of studying intensively for several years with Romanian concert pianist Marietta Orlov, ‘a dedicated teacher renowned for fostering some of Canada’s most promising young musicians’ at the esteemed Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.  While there, Beth supplemented her practical studies, earning certificates in theory, harmony, counterpoint (under Molly Sclater) and history (under music historian William G. Andrews). She continued her music studies while pursuing an undergraduate degree in Visual Arts at the University of Western Ontario under the tutelage of Western University Music Professor Patricia Giron.
